Alacati is Turkey's flagship watersports resort - a beautifully restored Greek stone-house town nicknamed "the St Tropez of Turkey," built on decades of windsurfing (it's a long-running PWA venue) with kitesurfing layered in more recently on the same bay. It's a boutique, upscale, fashionable crowd - cobbled streets, wine bars, design hotels - genuinely good for solo riders, couples and groups who want strong infrastructure and real off-the-water life, but it is not a budget destination and gets seriously busy and pricey in July-August. Base in Alacati old town for the atmosphere, or in the water-sports-hotel cluster right on the bay if convenience matters more; nearby Cesme town and Ilica add a beach-club/thermal-spa layer and a ferry link to Chios, Greece, making this an easy multi-day, multi-activity stop rather than a pure kite camp.

Six windsurf operations and one named kite shop (Kite Club Alacati) are crammed into a 250m span at 38.2493,26.3840; the mapped kite zone sits 1.7km across the water, and kiteforum states plainly you need a car or a boat to reach it. 2. The wind is thermal, and '330 windy days' is uncited marketing. Windfinder's Alacati statistics rest on observations from Jun 2010-Jul 2012 only. The operators who take your money narrow it to mid-June-to-mid-September (Sportif) or May-October (kiteforum), and three independent trip reports describe multi-day flat spells inside that window. 3. Alacati town and Alacati Bay are two different places: 5.3km, 7 driving minutes, 4.0km straight line. Not walkable - twice a day, every day. Ilica to the surf beach is over 10km. 4. Transfer truth: ADB to Alacati is 86-88km / 50-65min, not 72km/45min - road routing returns 87,551m and the straight-line gap alone is 68km. - North beach (Ilica) and the south-bay watersports area are 10km+ apart on the same peninsula - don't assume 'Alacati' accommodation is near the launch without checking.
- July-August pricing and crowds are sharply higher than shoulder season; this is as much a fashionable Turkish/European resort town as a kite spot, and it prices accordingly.
- The Chios ferry and day-trip options (Ephesus, Pamukkale) are genuinely worth planning around, but they eat a full day each - don't try to stack them with kiting on the same day.
