Barra Grande is a charming, sand-street village on Brazil's 'Delta Coast' that has grown a real hub of pousadas and kite schools since around 2010 - it's the classic finish point of the famous Ceará-to-Piauí downwind and works well as a slower-paced, walkable base rather than a party town.

airports	Fortaleza (FOR) - fly in, then overland Parnaíba (PHB) - closer regional airport, then taxi
transfers	From Fortaleza without a car: bus + taxi via Itarema, roughly 8.5 hours and $110-160. Flying Fortaleza-Parnaíba then taxi is faster. From Teresina, the road route is BR-343 via Campo Maior and Piripiri.
