Barra Grande
Barra Grande is a charming, sand-street village on Brazil's 'Delta Coast' that has grown a real hub of pousadas and kite schools since around 2010 - it's the classic finish point of the famous Ceará-to-Piauí downwind and works well as a slower-paced, walkable base rather than a party town.

How it scores for you
Persona presets weight the scores below for one kind of rider. Each carries the weakest confidence among its parts — never an average that hides a gap.
score-spec v1 (shrunk to coverage) — a score built on little evidence is pulled toward the middle rather than shown as a confident extreme. Hover a tile for its confidence.

What nobody tells you first

Wind micro-knowledge
| time of day | Morning sessions (~11am) suit beginners with gentler lateral wind; afternoon sessions intensify significantly and get crowded |
|---|---|
| seasonal migration | Avoid March-June, when offshore rain patterns weaken wind reliability; peak season late July-mid Feb |
| tide interplay | Low tide = flat; high tide brings more chop but a shallow protected lagoon forms ~2km offshore offering flat water even in strong wind |
| gust character | Right lateral wind keeps riders close to shore (described as a safety feature); gusts can reach 35kt at peak season |
Tips from riders
- Use a high-clearance vehicle for beach/sand road access
- Session in the morning if you're a beginner; afternoons are stronger and busier
