Christchurch

Christchurch is New Zealand's rebuilt South Island gateway city - flat, cycle-friendly, and still visibly a post-earthquake recovery story (Cardboard Cathedral, Quake City), with South Brighton's open sand a short ride from a compact, walkable centre. It suits kiters who want an easy, low-key city base with mountains and coast both within reach.

Itinerary idea

A couple of city days (gardens, gondola, Quake City) plus a Banks Peninsula day trip pairs well with sessions at South Brighton.
