Cumbuco
Cumbuco is Brazil's mass-market kite hub: a former fishing village 35km from Fortaleza now built out with kite schools, beach clubs, pousadas and nomad-friendly wifi, so it feels like a structured trip rather than an off-grid discovery. It's the easy first Brazil kite trip - lessons and lagoon progression a buggy-ride away, plus real nightlife within walking distance - and it works well for solo travelers and remote workers. It is not for people chasing an untouched fishing-village vibe or wanting to minimize theft risk - the same 45-minute proximity to a big city that makes Cumbuco convenient also makes it the most theft-prone spot on this stretch of coast. Most kiters use it as the launch pad for the longer Ceará coastal run rather than a full-trip destination on its own.

That proximity is the entire convenience case and the entire theft case: the documented pattern is cars broken into at remote lagoon/dune parking and gear lifted off the beach, not violence. The risk attaches to what you leave, not where you walk. ORIENT 2 - The ocean in front of the village is choppy with a small beach break. The flat water is at Lagoa do Cauipe, 7-8 km out over sand track (10-15 min by buggy; ~23 km if a road car takes the paved detour). Not walkable under any reading. Itinerary idea
3-5 days learning/progressing in Cumbuco and the Cauípe lagoon, then join (or self-drive) a 5-8 day downwinder up the coast through Taiba, Paracuru, Lagoinha, Guajiru and Icaraí de Amontada, finishing in Jericoacoara before flying home via Fortaleza or Jeri's small airport.
