Ilha do Guajiru

Ilha do Guajiru is a barrier-island kite resort area in Ceará built almost entirely around a handful of pousadas sitting right on the spot - convenient because the wind works on any tide, but genuinely isolated, so most riders eat, sleep and socialize within their pousada's own orbit rather than exploring a town.

    Wind micro-knowledge

time of dayOne rider's routine: morning session 6-9am before breakfast when low tide falls midday, then a second session ~3-4pm
seasonal migrationWind runs July to December; peak season October-December at ~20kt
tide interplayLagoon is best at high tide (deep enough); low tide leaves some areas too shallow, forcing a buggy ride to deeper water. Full/new moon creates 3-4 days/month of shallow, choppy conditions
gust characterSmooth and steady - described as 'predictable'; recommended kite range 7-8-9m at peak season, 10-11-12m in shoulder wind, rarely bigger than 10m

    Itinerary idea

Book a pousada that includes airport transfer from Fortaleza given the 3-hour drive, and expect to spend downwind days within the pousada cluster rather than venturing far.
