Mui Ne
Mui Ne is Vietnam's original kitesurfing town: a single long beach road (Nguyen Dinh Chieu) strung with kite schools, budget guesthouses and seafood BBQ shacks, built on a reliable November-April northeast monsoon that made it famous in the early 2000s. It works well for beginners taking lessons, riders who want cheap, easy, flat-water-to-wave variety, and backpackers mixing kiting with sand-dune tours - it is not a design-hotel, fine-dining or big-nightlife destination, and the strip has become noticeably more built-up and touristy (heavy Russian package-tourist presence) than kite-trip blogs from a decade ago describe. Non-kiters in your group will run out of things to do after 2-3 days beyond dunes, a fishing village and a Buddha statue, so this is a strong add-on to a Vietnam trip rather than a standalone two-week base.

Nguyen Dinh Chieu runs fifteen kilometres, and the water in front of the hotels at the central Ham Tien end has a shorebreak that closes on the sand, while the Malibu bay to the north has shallow standing water, no boats and no crowds. Every 'is it beginner-friendly' argument on Reddit is two people describing two different beaches four kilometres apart. Book Malibu or don't come to learn. Second: 15-25 knots cross-onshore from the northeast, mid-November to late April with January-March the core, 9 m2 for a 75-80 kg rider and 7 m2 on the strong days, water 24-26 C so no wetsuit ever.
