Sealine
Sealine is a day-trip-from-Doha destination, not a place to base a whole holiday — desert-meets-sea scenery, dune bashing and overnight desert camps layered on top of the kiting, with the city's comforts and only real nightlife back in Doha. It suits kiters staying in Doha who want an easy half-day or overnight desert detour rather than a standalone beach-town stay.

How it scores for you
Persona presets weight the scores below for one kind of rider. Each carries the weakest confidence among its parts — never an average that hides a gap.
score-spec v1 (shrunk to coverage) — a score built on little evidence is pulled toward the middle rather than shown as a confident extreme. Hover a tile for its confidence.

What nobody tells you first
- Alcohol is confined to licensed hotel venues — no drinking at beach camps or in public.
- It's illegal to eat or drink in public during daylight hours in Ramadan.
- Self-driving a 2WD car off the paved road toward the Inland Sea is a common way to get stuck — go 4x4 or with a guide.
- No sales tax, but the high cost of living keeps prices up despite that.

Getting there & getting around
| airports |
|
|---|---|
| transfers | No public transport to Sealine; self-drive or a desert-safari tour operator with 4x4 pickup. |
| car needed | yes |
| road quirks | Paved road runs to Sealine itself, but venturing further toward the Inland Sea (Khor Al Adaid) requires a 4x4 and ideally a guided convoy — regular 2WD rental cars get stuck in the soft sand tracks. |
Where to stay
| zones |
|
|---|---|
| better base nearby | Doha — most kiters and tourists base in the city and treat Sealine as a day or overnight excursion. |
Practical
| money | Qatari riyal (QR), pegged at 3.64 to the US dollar; ATMs widespread, moneychangers cluster near the Gold Souq. |
|---|---|
| sim internet | Ooredoo and Vodafone are the two carriers; prepaid 'Hala' starter packs from QR50. |
| language | Arabic (Gulf dialect) is official; English is the practical lingua franca, especially among the large expat workforce. |
| safety | Very low crime; the biggest real danger is road safety, and night driving in poor visibility is flagged as risky. Avoid photographing people without consent. |
| health | Sandstorms occur in summer; heat is the main hazard on desert excursions. |
| visa hint | Citizens of 90+ countries (including the US) get visa-free entry for 30–90 days; some nationalities need confirmed hotel bookings. |
| costs | level: moderate to expensive examples:

|---|---|
| seasons beyond wind | Summers are extremely hot with sandstorm risk; winter (roughly Nov–Mar) is the comfortable season for desert camping and outdoor time. |
Scene & life
| vibe | Not a nightlife destination — Qatar restricts alcohol sales to restaurants, bars and nightclubs inside major hotels, so evening life happens back in Doha. |

- No rider-voice sources could be retrieved this session (search budget exhausted; fallback search engines and forum searches blocked/rate-limited/empty). Needs a rerun targeting r/kitesurfing and Doha/Qatar expat forums for Sealine Shamal-season wind windows and Doha-based kite-community group sizes/activity.
- No first-hand rider commentary was actually read for Sealine - all claims here trace to spot-guide/travel-blog snippets, not forum discussion.
- The r/qatar thread (t=p5fs1a) likely contains useful rider comparisons between Sealine and Zekreet but could not be accessed.
- Wind timing, seasonal migration, and gust character are unknown from reachable sources.

Itinerary idea
Base in Doha, day-trip to Sealine for kiting plus a dune-bashing/desert-camp add-on, and combine with Khor Al Adaid if you have a full day.
