Cuesta del Viento
Cuesta del Viento is a high-desert reservoir in the Andean foothills of San Juan, roughly 180 km north of San Juan city, famous for near-daily thermal winds that can exceed 300 windy days a year. Ringed by dramatic rocky mountains in a dry, remote valley, it has become one of South America's premier big-air and freestyle freshwater venues and hosts major events including a Red Bull King of the Air qualifier and the Cuesta del Viento Big Air competition.

Monthly wind statistics
Station: Rodeo (modeled) (Weather Spark (NASA MERRA-2 reanalysis climatology, not a single ground station), ~12 km) — No Windfinder windstatistics page exists for Cuesta del Viento itself; Windguru has a spot page (windguru.cz/124201, 'Cuesta del Viento - Rodeo') but it is a forecast/live board, not a historical climatology table, so it was not usable for monthly stats. Used instead: Weather Spark's MERRA-2 reanalysis climatology for the town of Rodeo (~12 km from the reservoir/kite spot). This is a coarse valley-scale model average and almost certainly UNDERSTATES the local funnel/thermal wind - Cuesta del Viento is famous precisely because the narrowing valley locally accelerates the daily afternoon wind to 40-80 km/h (per multiple travel/kite sources), an effect a 13-25km-resolution reanalysis grid cell will not resolve. The model's own windiest months (Jun-Aug, austral winter) also directly contradict the site's known Oct-Mar kiting season, reinforcing that this is a poor proxy for the actual thermal-driven wind regime at the dam. No Beaufort probability, air/water temp by month available. Treat this record as low-confidence background context only.
