IJmuiden (Zone 1)

IJmuiden aan Zee, on the North Sea coast at Velsen, is unusual among Dutch beach spots for being rideable in southerly wind — normally an offshore direction elsewhere on this coast. Zone 1 stays shallow for around 100m out and is rated beginner-friendly, with a separate Zone 2 to the south closed to kiting through the summer swim season. This is a distinct spot from Wijk aan Zee's pier beach on the Noordpier's north side.
