Kanaha Beach Park, on Maui's north shore next to Kahului Airport, is the spot where Laird Hamilton and Manu Bertin helped popularize modern kitesurfing in the mid-1990s and remains one of the sport's most iconic trade-wind venues. A reef-protected inner lagoon gives beginners flat, steady water, while the outer reef and adjacent Kite Beach zone serve wave riders and big-air freestylers.
