Lauwersoog sits on the Wadden Sea at the Groningen/Friesland border, where kiters ride the shallow tidal flats within a roughly four-hour window around high water. NKV's own page tags it a beginner spot, but independent write-ups describe it as an advanced destination given the strong currents and remoteness — a contradiction that isn't resolved. A separate inland-lake spot, 'Lauwersmeer', sits just across the dike and is a distinct restricted-season location per NKV's overview map; it was not independently verified here.
