Los Caños de Meca

A wave spot on the wild Atlantic coast near Barbate, right by the Trafalgar lighthouse and backed by the La Breña pine-forest natural park. It has a laid-back, bohemian beach-town character but the water itself is a serious wave spot best suited to confident, experienced riders, and it has become noticeably more crowded in recent years as it gained a reputation among traveling kiters.

Monthly wind statistics

Station: Barbate (Weather Spark composite: Gibraltar Airport, Tangier Ibn Battouta, Jerez Airport, Naval Station Rota) (weatherspark.com (MERRA-2 reanalysis), ~10.1 km) — Barbate town/station is ~10 km east along the coast from Los Caños de Meca; both sit in the Levante/Poniente wind corridor near Tarifa so the pattern should transfer reasonably well, but local acceleration near the Trafalgar cape is not captured. windfinder.com returned HTTP 429 (rate-limited/blocked) on every attempt during this run, so no windfinder windstatistics page could be fetched; used Weather Spark (MERRA-2 reanalysis, 1980-2016) as fallback. No probability of wind >=4 Bft is published by Weather Spark, so prob_ge_4bft_pct is null throughout; avg_knots is the mean hourly wind speed and dominant_dir is a coarse seasonal approximation (not a true per-month wind rose). No water temperature figures were found for any of these stations.
