Napeague is a low, narrow stretch of Long Island's South Fork between Amagansett and Montauk; its sheltered harbor funnels steady wind across shallow, waist-deep water for hundreds of yards. Lazy Point, on the harbor's western shore, is the usual put-in and the base for the area's longest-running kiteboarding school.
