Nungwi
Nungwi sits at Zanzibar's northern tip and is the island's most developed and visited tourist hub - a former dhow-building and fishing village whose beach was named in CNN's 100 best beaches list. Unlike the sheltered south-east lagoons at Paje and Jambiani, Nungwi's water stays non-tidal and comparatively deep close to shore, with kitesurfing/foiling offered by resorts as one activity among diving, snorkeling and dhow cruises rather than as the area's main draw.

Wind
| season notes | Zanzibar's Kaskazi (Dec-Mar, NE monsoon) and Kusi (Jun-Sep, SE monsoon) seasons govern wind island-wide, but spot-specific wind data for Nungwi was not found; Nungwi is more exposed to open-channel current and swell than the sheltered south-east lagoons. |

Monthly wind statistics
Station: Kiwengwa Duotone Pro Center / Zanzibar (Windfinder (observed station), ~~31 (Kiwengwa is on the same east/north-coast side, south of Nungwi) km) — No station at Nungwi itself (Windfinder's 'ras_nungwi_zanzibar' URL actually redirects to the Zanzibar Airport station, ~56km away on the opposite west coast). Using Kiwengwa Duotone Pro Center (~31km south, same coast, short ~4.4-year record 3/2022-7/2026) as the nearer proxy instead. Data shows Jan-Feb clearly windiest (34-47% in the 7-22kt bucket) and Apr-Jul unexpectedly calm (71-72% dead calm) — batch input had no known_best_months for Nungwi to compare against; treat the Apr-Jul calm reading with caution given the short record and cross-check against the longer Zanzibar Airport record (SE-dominant, windy nearly all year) at https://en.windfinder.com/windstatistics/ras_nungwi_zanzibar. Beaufort-≥4 probability not directly available (knot buckets only); raw buckets kept in wind_bucket_pct_0_1_7_22_34plus_kts. No water temperature reported.
