Pounta sits on Paros's west coast at the narrow, shallow strait facing Antiparos, where the Meltemi funnels between the two islands into consistent side-shore wind. It has hosted world kite and windsurf championships and is home to the long-running ParosKite school, operating on this beach since 1993.
