Prasonisi

Prasonisi is a cape at the southern tip of Rhodes, connected to the mainland by a sandy tombolo that turns it into a true island in winter when water levels rise. Its unique double-sided geography gives a flat, protected lagoon on the Mediterranean side for beginners and a wave-filled Aegean side for advanced wave riders, all powered by a strong, reliable Meltemi that wraps around the point.

Monthly wind statistics

Station: Rhodes International Airport (Paradisi/Diagoras) (WeatherSpark, ~90 km) — No wind-statistics station was found within a reasonable distance of Prasonisi itself (southern tip of Rhodes); the airport at the island's NW tip, ~90 km away, is the nearest available source and does NOT capture Prasonisi's famous local wind-funneling effect between the two bays. Windfinder.com (which normally has a dedicated Prasonisi station) returned HTTP 429 rate-limit errors on every attempt this session and could not be fetched. Raw avg wind speed here peaks in winter (storm-driven), which conflicts with the actual Jun-Sep Meltemi season that makes Prasonisi famous for kiting - treat best_months_by_data with caution; known_best_months (Jun-Sep) reflects the actual kiting season better than this generic annual-average metric.
