What nobody tells you first
- The old airport's reputation for a tricky crosswind approach is largely historical (the runway was extended over the ocean on pillars) but turbulence on approach can still happen - don't be alarmed
- Mountain roads elsewhere on the island are genuinely challenging to drive - budget extra time
