Óbidos Lagoon

Europe's largest coastal saltwater lagoon, near Peniche, offering flat, shallow, crystal-clear water in a natural cross-onshore wind flow off the Atlantic. Its very shallow, sandy-bottomed water makes it one of Portugal's safest and easiest lagoons to learn in, though the upper part of the lagoon reportedly closes to kiting during the peak mid-June to mid-September bathing season.
