Icaraí de Amontada

Icaraí de Amontada (universally called Icaraizinho by kiters) is a roughly 6km bay sheltered by a headland, about 157km/2.5-3hr drive from Fortaleza. The bay's shape means conditions change through the day and with the tide: flat, sheltered water inside at low tide, more wave and chop as the tide floods, plus an offshore-leaning east end and a more onshore west end - giving riders a choice of flat-water freestyle water or small wave riding within the same bay. It has grown into one of Ceará's major kite towns, with schools, kite camps, and guesthouses lining the beach.
